About the Artist

Weaving is one of the oldest and most revered art forms in all of human history, and I have been blessed with both a talent and passion for pursuing it.  My life has centered around weaving since I took my first class more than twenty years ago.

I grew up in the desert Southwest. This is the landscape that I carry in my heart and weave into my work.  I have explored its beauty in both abstract and pictorial forms. My hope is that my work inspires in the viewer a feeling of connectedness with something that is outside of them, but also within them.

A creative life is an interesting journey. Along the way I have wandered down some side roads that have altered my course significantly.

Making fiber beads began as a whim, a way to use small bits of leftover yarns. The endless possibilities and permutations of color and shape keep me constantly designing new pieces. I have become better acquainted with my whimsical side through this process, since it requires an entirely different type of creative impulse than does tapestry weaving.

Most recently I have been exploring the interplay of beads and yarn when they are woven together into the cloth.

My roles as artist, teacher, and promoter of weaving have recently coalesced into the creation of the Loom in a Tube™ family of products, intended to make weaving instruction accessible and fun to a broader audience.  You can view this line of products at www.loominatube.com.
