In this piece I seek to convey the transformative power of fire. Flames devour all that they touch, destroying what was there, but also, oddly, laying the groundwork for what comes next. The flames rage between a black ground and a white sky, a range that encompasses all possibilities. In my process of weaving spontaneously without a physical design, I remain open to the possibilities of what might come next. Letting the materials come into form through the action of my hands will more often than not reveal an unexpected outcome. It is this process of becoming that is most thrilling to me as a weaver.
