I grew up in the
desert Southwest. This is the landscape that I carry in my heart and
weave into my work. I have explored its beauty in both abstract
and pictorial forms. My hope is that my work will inspire in the viewer
a sense of calm and a feeling of connectedness with something that is
outside of them, but also within them.
All of my
tapestries
are hand woven. I use fine wools and other exotic yarns to create each
piece individually. There are no two alike. Weaving is a
time-consuming endeavor, and I sometimes weave for several months to
create one of my large designs. I am excited about each piece as I am
weaving it. I have devoted my life to this art form since I learned it
20 years ago.
My jewelry making began as a whim,
but quickly took off and took over much of my studio space. The endless
possibilities and permutations of color and shape keep me constantly
designing new pieces. I have become better acquainted with my whimsical
side through this process, as the type of creative energy it utilizes is
entirely different from intentions that drive me to weave a tapestry.
